latest updates (as of mid-2025) on work permits and visas for non-EU/EEA nationals in Croatia

Extended permit validity:

• EU Blue Card validity increased from 24 to 48 months (up to 4 years)
• Standard work permits now extend to three years (vs. one year previously) .
• Digital nomad visa extended to 18 months (previously 12) .
• Seasonal permits now cover up to 9 months/year

Simplified Blue Card process:

• Faster issuance and more relaxed rules for changing employers; card includes biometric details to allow immediate work

Diaspora & immigrant incentives:

• New temporary residence (with work rights) for Croatian emigrants, descendants, or participants in diaspora oriented programs—no need to prove financial support or insurance.
